Traffic Advisory CommitteeLast modified: September 5, 2006 - 2:36 PM
When a scheme involving traffic control is proposed to Council, the advice of the local Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) must be taken into consideration. In particular the TAC must approve the installation of any regulatory sign or device (for example parking restrictions and pedestrian crossings). The TAC can also recommend the installation of warning signs where it is deemed they are required. The TAC deals with traffic issues in relation to Development Applications and general traffic issues within the Great Lakes area. The TAC is made up of formal and informal members. The formal members have one vote each at the TAC meeting and consist of the following representatives: Formal Voting on Development Application Items
Development Application ItemsDevelopment Applications (DA's) expected to have traffic implications are referred to the TAC where advice is given to Council. Member voting rights in relation to Development Application items are outlined above. Major traffic generating developments are referred directly to the Regional Development Committee which is formed as required under the chairmanship of the RTA in Newcastle.MeetingsThe TAC usually meets once per month on the second Wednesday of the month at 10am in Council Chambers, Breese Parade, Forster. Members of the public have an opportunity to address the TAC before the members discuss their issue.Should you have a request for a traffic management facility which should be considered by the TAC, submit your request in writing to Council's Traffic Engineer, Engineering Services Division. All written submissions can be addressed to The General Manager, Great Lakes Council, PO Box 450, Forster, NSW, 2428. Contact details | |||||||||
