Building in Bushfire Prone Areas

Council must consider the impact of bushfire on any proposed development. Development applications for bushfire prone land must be referred to the NSW Rural Fire Service.

The NSW Rural Fire Service has produced guideline documents for Building in Bushfire Prone Areas. The two most commonly used guideline documents are:

  • Guidelines for Single Dwelling Development Applications
  • Guidelines for Subdivision Applications

Copies of these documents are available from the NSW Rural Fire Service website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.

To find out if your property has been identified as being bushfire prone, please contact Council's Customer Service Officers.
