Planning & Building
The Building Approvals Team assess development applications for most single dwelling houses and all construction certificates. The Building Approvals Team may also act as the Principal Certifying Authority for any construction or strata subdivision works, including the issuing of Occupation Certificates. The Team also undertake compliance inspections for fire safety and places of public entertainment.
As part of our ongoing pursuit of best practice in customer service, the Building Approvals Team also provide competitive quotes for Building Certification and are available for inspections within Forster and Tuncurry with 24hrs notice (during normal business hours and excluding public holidays).
The Development Assessment Team coordinates the Development Process and implementation of Council's Development Controls. As part of this role, the Team undertake a range of duties including: dwelling entitlement searches; Preliminary Assessment meetings; development and subdivision application assessment; consideration of Local, Regional and State legislation and requirements; Council reports; application determinations; and modifications to development consents.
The Strategic Land Use Planning Team co-ordinates the development and implementation of Planning Studies and Development Controls so as to assist Council in deciding on where, what type, how much, and when growth and development should occur and how this can be balanced with the protection of important natural features and qualities within the Great Lakes.

Strategic, Planning and Building Officers are generally available between 8.30am and 10.00am weekdays at Council's Administration Building Breese Parade Forster, or by appointment.
