Youth urged to help shape the Great LakesLast modified: November 5, 2009 - 12:24 AM
Great Lakes Council is calling on young people in our communities to participate in youth workshops that will identify their needs, hopes and aspirations for the future of their communities for the next twenty years. The workshops are part of the community-based strategic planning process that will create Great Lakes 2030, Council's community strategic plan, an overarching plan being developed to take the region forward to 2030. "We have been conducting workshops for all interested residents right across the Great Lakes over the last two weeks, but we want to clearly hear what our young people would like to see in the Great Lakes by 2030" said Mr Steve Embry, Director of Corporate and Community Services at Great Lakes Council. "They are the future of our region, and without hearing their voices, the Plan will be incomplete." More information on the strategic plan workshops and the themes to be covered can be found on Council's website, http://www.greatlakes.nsw.gov.au/ and an online survey is also available there for anyone unable to attend a workshop. A special Youth Workshop will be held on Thursday 5 November from 4.30pm - 5.30pm in the Council Chambers at Breese Parade, Forster while youth attending Bulahdelah Central School will be given an opportunity to consult. Any young people wishing to attend one of the youth workshops are asked to contact Great Lakes Council, telephone 6591 7290 to register. Contact details |
