Great Lakes community shapes its own futureLast modified: October 27, 2009 - 5:15 PM
Community workshops for Great Lakes 2030, Great Lakes Council's Community Strategic Plan, have commenced with impact in Forster this week. Over 110 people have attended three workshops in Forster and outcomes have been exciting and positive, providing substantial input for the development of Great Lakes 2030. Clear issues have emerged from the initial workshops in Forster, particularly on the themes of protecting our environment and providing jobs and training opportunities for residents. "We're looking forward to the workshops being held in Stroud, Tea Gardens, Bulahdelah and Nabiac and to hearing the priorities of those communities on themes such as our environment; tourism; services and infrastructure; employment and training opportunity; and community and culture" said Mr Steve Embry, Council's Director of Corporate and Community Services.
Further workshops will be held as follows to allow all Great Lakes residents to contribute to the Plan: "Once all workshops have identified priorities for the Great Lakes as a whole, a community Leadership Forum will identify strategies to contribute to the Great Lakes 2030 Plan" said Steve Embry. All members of the community are welcome to attend these workshops and participate in shaping their community strategic plan for the next 20 years. Contact details |
