Nominate a Great Lakes Great Australian

Last modified: September 21, 2009 - 4:15 PM

Do you know someone living in the Great Lakes area who, as an ordinary citizen, is doing extraordinary things for the community?

Nominations are open on 30 September 2009 and close on 30 November 2009 for the 2010 Great Lakes Council Australia Day Awards.

These awards have been established to recognise outstanding achievements or invaluable service to the community by individuals in three categories:
Great Lakes Citizen of the Year (28 years of age or over as at 26 January 2010);
Great Lakes Young Citizen of the Year (over 16 and under 28 years of age as at 26 January 2010); and
Sportsperson of the Year (open age).

Open to all residents of the Great Lakes area, this is an ideal chance to praise the achievements and services of some of our outstanding individuals.  It is a unique opportunity for residents and community groups to acknowledge the hard work of colleagues, family or friends who publicly deserve our thanks.

These awards will be presented in a ceremony on Australia Day, 26 January 2010.  Eligible nominees will be encouraged to attend the Awards Ceremony.

Applications and guidelines are available by telephoning Sue Bookallil on 6591 7295 or by visiting www.greatlakes.nsw.gov.au.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 30 November 2009.
