Landfills and Recycling Centres

The Great Lakes area has four Landfill and Recycling Centres which are located at Tuncurry, Tea Gardens, Bulahdelah and Stroud.

The “Tip Shop”

Did you know that all of Council's Landfill sites have a “Tip Shop”? Instead of throwing away your unwanted items, such as furniture and bric-a-brac, you can take them to the “Tip shop” where they may be purchased and reused by someone else. By utilising this service, you not only help to save valuable resources and extend the life of our Landfills, but you will enjoy reduced disposal fees.

Vehicle Registration and Weighing

Tuncurry Waste Management Centre offers public weighing for Vehicle Registrations. This is conducted after 1.00pm Monday to Friday.

Mulch

Mulch can normally be acquired from Tuncurry Waste Management Centre. Loading of mulch which incurs a charge will only take place on the following days:

Saturday and Sunday 10am - 2pm 

Tuesdays 11am - 3pm 

Greenwaste

Council does not provide a kerbside greenwaste collection service.

Recyclables

You may take any excess amounts of domestic recyclable products (eg bottles, cans, paper/cardboard) to your closest Landfill where disposal is 'free of charge'.
