Client Services Officer-Ageing Parent Carers-Ref No.03/10

GREAT LAKES LEISURE AND RESPITE OPTIONS-CLIENT SERVICES OFFICER-PERMANENT PART-TIME (14 HOURS PER WEEK)

Auspiced by Great Lakes Council, Leisure and Respite Options provides social support and family respite to people with a disability and their carers.
Working closely with the Team Leader, clients and carers you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of respite for families in the Great Lakes Local Government Area for children, young people and adults who have a disability. This will include engaging casual workers and volunteers to provide the direct service delivery according to the needs of the family and within the guidelines of the funding body. On occassions you will be required to work directly with clients which may involve weekends and occasional overnight respite events, for which appropriate penalty rates and allowances will be paid.
Your ability to display an understanding of people with individual needs, an appreciation of volunteering in the community, and an ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a team member will be paramount to the success of the position. Your well developed communication and time management skills, eye for detail, accuracy and ability to plan will be essential for this role.
Qualified in Community Services or a similar field at the TAFE Certificate level, your experience in planning and coordinating services for people with a disability or other designated special needs groups will be highly regarded. Experience working successfully with volunteers and an extensive knowledge of the issues facing people with a disability will be important qualities to bring to this role.
Your ability to monitor and perform within the constraints of a budget and to maintain confidential records is essential to the position.
Competent computer skills and a Class C Driver's License are basic requirements of the role.
Ideally, you will have a knowledge of the Home and Community Care Program and Services and a current First Aid Certificate.
Remuneration: This position has been assessed at Grade 8 within the Great Lakes Council Salary System and currently attracts an entry level rate of $21.66 per hour. Further progression will be based upon demonstrated competencies and performance.
