Election September 2008
Election - 13 September 2008 Elections for NSW Local Government Council's will be held on Saturday 13 September 2008. At this election, members of the public who are enrolled to vote will elect nine (9) Councillors who will form the next Great Lakes Council. The Electoral Commission NSW is responsible for the conduct of the election. Prospective candidates and members of the public can receive up to date election information from the NSW Electoral Commission website at http://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/. Candidate Information Seminars The NSW Electoral Commission will be conducting Candidate Information Seminars during May and June 2008. The NSW Electoral Commission will advertise these seminars in Sydney metropolitan newspapers and local regional newspapers at least a week prior to the scheduled date. A list of the Candidate Information Sessions can be downloaded at http://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/. The closest seminars for the Great Lakes Local Government Area will be held in Taree and Newcastle. Electoral Expenditure - Political Donations The NSW Electoral Commission has advised that prospective candidates and elected Councillors should visit the Electoral Funding Authority's website at http://www.efa.nsw.gov.au/ to ensure that they are familiar with their obligations with respect to maintaining accurate records of political donations received and electoral expenditure incurred. Rolls of Electors Including Non-Residential Rolls - 04 Jun 2008If you are an owner, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land which is not your primary residence, you or a nominee may be entitled to be enrolled on the roll of non-residential owners of rateable land or the roll of occupiers and rate-paying lessees for this election. more ..
