Promoting Better Practice Review Report

The Promoting Better Practice Review Program is a review process implemented by the Department of Local Government so as to:
- generate momentum for a culture of continuous improvement and greater compliance across local government
- provide an "early intervention" option for councils experiencing operating problems
- promote good governance and ethical conduct principles
- identify and share innovation and good practice in local government
- enable the Department to use review information to feed back into its work in identifying necessasry legislative and policy work for the local government sector.
Council participated in the Program in 2008. The Department has released its Final Report on the outcomes of the Review and this Report was tabled at Council's Ordinary Meeting held on 24 March 2009. Council also adopted an Action Plan that addresses how it will implement the recommendations contained within the Report. These documents can be downloaded below.
